Valorization of Hazardous Organic Solid Wastes towards Fuels and Chemicals via Fast (Catalytic) Pyrolysis

چکیده

The management of municipal and industrial organic solid wastes has become one the most critical environmental problems in modern societies. Nowadays, commonly used techniques are incineration, composting, landfilling, with former being common for hazardous wastes. An alternative eco-friendly method that offers a sustainable economically viable solution is fast pyrolysis, important thermochemical processes petrochemical biomass valorization industry. objective this work was to study application pyrolysis three types wastes, i.e., petroleum-based sludges sediments, residual paints left on used/scrap metal packaging, creosote-treated wood waste, towards high-added-value fuels, chemicals, (bio)char. Fast experiments were performed lab-scale fixed-bed reactor determination product yields, (bio)oil, gases, solids (char). In addition, composition (bio)oil also determined by Py/GC-MS tests. thermal oil from petroleum sludge only 15.8 wt.% due remarkably high content ash (74 wt.%) type contrast treated (also containing 30 inorganics), which provided 46.9 35 oil, respectively. gaseous products ranged ~7.9 (sludge) 14.7 (wood) 19.2 (paints), while respective (ash, char, reaction coke) values 75.1, 35, 36.9 wt.%. (non-catalytic) paint contained relatively concentrations short acrylic aliphatic ester (i.e., n-butyl methacrylate), valuable monomers polymer use an acidic zeolitic catalyst (ZSM-5) situ upgrading vapors induced changes yields (decreased cracking reactions increased gases char/coke), but mostly composition. main effect ZSM-5 zeolite that, all catalytic oils enriched value-added mono-aromatics (BTX), especially case waste paints. non-condensable consisting CO, CO2, different amounts C1–C4 hydrocarbons, depending initial feed or not production ethylene propylene.

Valorization of municipal solid wastes through biogas production in Iran

Iran is a developing country with a population of over 80 million. The total daily MSWs production in Iran is about 50 million kg. Most of the MSWs in this country is being disposed of in the landfills. Some of the landfills are located in the urban area or near to sea, river, and forest. In this regard, the management of MSWS becomes a concern in Iran. One solution to manage MSWs and mitigate ...

Catalytic Fast Pyrolysis: A Review

Catalytic pyrolysis is a promising thermochemical conversion route for lignocellulosic biomass that produces chemicals and fuels compatible with current, petrochemical infrastructure. Catalytic modifications to pyrolysis bio-oils are geared towards the elimination and substitution of oxygen and oxygen-containing functionalities in addition to increasing the hydrogen to carbon ratio of the final...

Valorization of agro-industrial wastes towards the production of rhamnolipids.

In this work, oil mill wastewater (OMW), a residue generated during olive oil extraction, was evaluated as an inducer of rhamnolipid production. Using a medium containing as sole ingredients corn steep liquor (10%, v/v), sugarcane molasses (10%, w/v) and OMW (25%, v/v), Pseudomonas aeruginosa #112 produced 4.5 and 5.1g of rhamnolipid per liter in flasks and reactor, respectively, with critical ...
